As much fun as it has been colour blocking and wearing brights this season, I’ve recently been drawn toward more classic and subdued looks (which also coincides with a new-found shopping philosophy). Although this outfit does not exactly adhere to the definition of classic, the colour palette itself is one that I will never tire of: white (or cream), black and gold, dashes of red with some leopard thrown in for good measure.

Wearing: thrifted blouse, Forever 21 skirt, Salvatore Ferragamo belt, MICHAEL Michael Kors clutch, BCBGMAXAZRIA sandals, Michael Kors sunnies

  1. You look gorgeous, as always! The shoes are my favorite aspect of the outfit, but it all comes together perfectly. I can’t believe that the skirt is F21!

  2. I love it! I think this definitely looks classic. Every piece is perfect together, this look is amazing!! Can’t believe that blouse was thrifted… lucky, lucky lady :)

  6. I agree with you about shopping for more classic styles
stuff you can have in your closet for years to come.

    love the thrifted blouse.

  7. You are absolutely stunning! The blouse and the skirt are such a perfect pair, this is a fantastic summer outfit! So lovely. I just found your blog, and adore it…consider me your newest follower!

  8. I love that you wear lipstick! I have found the more colorful I dress the harder it is to wear my lipstick collection with out “matching” too much. You should start posting what you are wearing on your lips as well:)

  13. You look so stunning Jen! I love these photos, makes me yearn for the sunnier days in Vancouver all over again. I know what you mean with the more subdued classic looks, you definitely hit the nail on the head with this look :)

    P.S. Those shoes are killer.

  14. Jen you’re such a stunner! I love this whole look…every element works perfectly with everything else, and you look gorgeous yourself. This look in particular is very “classic Jen” to me…elegant, glamorous, and a perfect balance of trendy with classic pieces.

  15. Oooh, that blouse is thrifted? What a good find – I love it! I love how you make “classic” silhouettes more modern (like here with the leopard print) and I wish I could be like you and wear skirts everyday (I almost never wear them)!

  16. Wow, that belt and clutch are gorgeous on you, as are your photographs…:) I just found your blog and love it!

  17. How adorable are you!?! First time here…loving your “philosophy” statement and style! Nice work!!

  18. I agree- it was fun playing around and colourblocking for a while, but at a certain point you remember that it’s just a trend, and not the way you want to dress forever. I’m lovely this return to the classic- animal print, a gorgeous clutch, red lips and a white oxford can never, ever be wrong. And this combination is particularly right :)

  21. I’m in love with the bib lapel details and the ruffles on the sleeves. It keeps the shirt from being too “standard button down” territory. It’s unexpected and so subtle you don’t catch it until it’s in motion.

    I dig this.

However, I know I could never wear it, because my boobs are so big, that shirt would look ridiculous on me. Most cute shirts with details like that would never work on me because my chest *hate*hate*hate.

    You’re adorbs, Jen. <3

Love that you veered away from the colour blocking that everyone is doing to showcase some refreshing neutrals. Have a great long weekend lovely xo

  26. I love how you blend in so well with the outfit. Your skin tone is so similar, but you don’t end up looking washed out, which is definitely hard. What a great look for you!

  27. Neutrals and red lipstick are my favourites! Lately, I’ve been on an animal print kick so I love this post.
