Sometime around last fall, I started being drawn to more tomboyish pieces. They’ve been the bulk of my purchases since then and I don’t think it’s going to slow down anytime soon: I would have never in a million years imagined liking camouflage shorts, but I have a feeling this pair is going to be in constant rotation this summer. Paired with more feminine pieces like a peplum and fuchsia pointy pumps, they possess a slightly more polished feel that doesn’t feel too far removed from my style.
p.s. So excited to be doing a bit of traveling this week and will update you on it all next week – for now, follow along in real time on instagram! xo

  1. This look is soooo stinkin’ cute! I love the chunky layered necklaces & the pop of color with those camo shorts!! Great styling as usual, girl!

  2. the shorts are cut so feminine, it really neutralizes the masculinity! and with the pink, you definitely still look “you” :)

  3. Oh wow, I’d never thought I’d be wanting some camo shorts either, but I kind of want one now that I see how fab you look in yours! Really loving how you paired the hot pink heels and lipstick with it :) And have fun on your trip!

  5. Love this post!! The mix of femininity and edgy masculinity is sublime and you’ve used the Buchanan courtyard so well. Makes me miss walking through for class! It’s amazing how one item can create new perspectives on personal style.

  10. How neat!

I used to wear fatigues in high school all the time — not in ROTC or anything, I was just a tomboy and liked the way they looked. Recently I was wondering how to incorporate camo back into my wardrobe (but dress it up — because I’m less into grungy style).

    Great inspiration! :)

  11. This is such a great outfit, and I’m jealous that you can already wear shorts.

    That necklace is seriously fabulous!

  12. I am really digging the more casual, tomboyish, less tailored pieces… somehow you still incorporate them into your style and make them your own–polished everyday glam. That’s you in a nutshell, which I love.

  13. Like I tweeted, this is seriously one of my fave outfits of yours next to your Borrowed from the Boys post. The camo paired with the sophisticated black pieces and edgy gold chains is a look that’s surprisingly classic. I especially love that you added a pop of colour with those fuchsia pumps!
