Beautulleful

I’ve always been a little apprehensive about tulle skirts: while I hear all the time about how “Carrie Bradshaw” they are, and see others looking perfectly whimsical in them, I never really saw myself pulling them off very well. Maybe it has to do with the fact that being petite, I’ve felt like it would overwhelm my frame… or because I feared looking like a child playing dress up, since my Asian genes often make me look younger than I am. Pared down with simple neutral pieces, though, this black one from local brand Beautulleful is a statement without swallowing me up, and the dark hue adds just the right amount of ‘grown-up’ edge. Consider it a change of heart!

With Ease

I have a pretty prominently pear shaped figure. And while I’ve come to embrace and love it over the years, I’ve also accepted the fact that dressing for my shape means that certain styles just won’t work for me. One such example is the body hugging jersey dress: I’ve long admired the effortless ease they provide, but couldn’t really wear them well because of my proportionately wider hips. I recently came across this lovely t-shirt dress and, while I figured it probably wouldn’t look good on me, decided to try it on anyway — and was pleasantly surprised by how much of a difference a small detail makes. The front wrap and slightly looser fitted top of this dress definitely proved my prior thinking wrong and, coupled with an oversized cape, has become a go-to summer look.
