For the past year or so, I have started to find myself wanting to invest in pieces that are more classic and that will interest me for longer than a season or two. Because of a variety of reasons, I am now continually trying to be more intentional about my clothing choices and cutting down on fast fashion & impulse purchases as much as possible (they add up fast!). This classic camel coat fit the bill perfectly: I love that it’s in a simple but beautiful cut that has just enough detail for a hint of interest.
Wearing: T.Babaton (Aritzia) coat and pants, Coach bag, J.Crew sweater, ShoeMint shoes (c/o), MAC lip pencil in Brick, gloves from local boutique

  4. That’s been my shopping philosophy for the past year or so too… I have been avoiding fast fashion retailers like crazy! That Aritzia coat is such a classic… I got a camel one from there a few years ago (different style) for the very same reason as you :)

  8. Great coat–it looks lovely with a classic winter white outfit and red lips. Your bangs look like they’re growing out nicely too.

  9. The peacoats and trenches at Aritzia are great classics! Expensive, but the quality is fantastic.

  11. You bought the coat in camel! Glad you got a hold of it, this is a beautiful, classic hue and the style of the coat is something that will be in fashion for years to come. I’m also really compelled to get that MAC lip pencil you wear so much, the red is perfect!

  13. A great coat is always a smart investment, especially if you live in colder climate. I’ve accumulated quite a few over the years. I love how you style it, Jen. Definitely looks better on you than the model.

i do have a question: i want to purchase something from asos, but i’ve never bought anything from them before. is it difficult or a hassel since it’s a US company shipping to canada? what about returns?

    thanks!

  18. The structure of the collar is simply wonderful – I remember that was one of the reasons I bought the coat I have now because it was a classic design, but the collar let it stand out without being too of something different haha. Hope your week has been going well! xx

  19. Yes, I totally hear you on wanting to invest in quality classic pieces instead of trying frantically to keep up with trends and filling your closet with things that are out of style by next year… Sometimes it’s easier said than done though ;)

  21. I love this outfit! Thanks for being always a fashion inspiration! I have one question about the bag. Is it the silver/black cherry bag from this season? I can’t tell from the Coach website wether the color is the same. I really love the bag and feel like it would pair well with almost any outfit.
