I feel like I’ve had more than a few conversations lately in which the person I’m talking to is majorly stressed. It makes me sad, because while I understand and agree with the importance of work, I do think there ultimately needs to be joy and balance above that. And although I know there’s much more to it than that, I’ve realized the importance of finding some simple things that can be done to perk up your day at a moment’s notice. For me, that’s a walk in the sun, a coffee and pastry date with a friend, and treating myself to flowers (bonus points if they’re on sale!) at Whole Foods. What are some of the little things that make you happy?

  1. Pretty pretty sunflowers, one of my faves. Although I love flowers, I don’t really buy them because of allergies. My pick me ups are usually just strolls or bike rides along the river. It’s relaxing and the fresh air just calms me down and clears my mind.

  2. Those sunflowers are lovely and so are your sandals!

  3. For me it has to be listening to soft rock music or just reading a lovely book

  4. Fave pick me ups: coffee, buy a new plant, give myself a pedicure, and for the desperate moments, watch a favorite movie.

    Great post!

  5. Jen.. summer whites look so good on you! Then again, you look fabulous in everything you wear!

Snail mail always makes me happy. With technology so easily accessible to us these days, a surprise hand written letter from a pal is something I cherish dearly. :)

Wishing you a great Tuesday, Jen!
