Though they look so pretty on the rack, I’ve always been slightly afraid of swingy, trapeze dresses (let’s be honest here, the pregnant look isn’t exactly great if you’re not expecting). Sometimes, though, all it takes is a slight change to turn things around. The scoopback feature of this Free People frock isn’t only lovely, but really helps balance out the silhouette. It’s officially my new perfect summer weekend dress and has been ideal for the warm weather we’ve been so blessed to have lately.

  1. Such a gorgeous dress – love the addition of the denim vest too!

  2. That dress is lovely! I agree that the cut out back makes balances the volume, and I love that it isn’t too revealing (as in, it looks like you can still wear something under it). I love the bright pop of color from the red clutch too. Great outfit!

  3. This is a perfect summer look, love that little dress, all the detailing make it so beautiful.

  4. The details of that dress are just so wonderful! And I love how you paired a denim vest with this – I was about to pick one up this weekend, but wanted a lighter shade!

  5. Oh my, this dress is to die for! That detailing on the back and the silhouette looks amazing on you :)

  6. Argh, Free People is killing me with all their gorgeous boho-esque dresses! Love that you’ve paired yours with a denim dress – I think that also helps to add shape to the look!

  7. The details on the dress is beautiful. Like you, I’m not a fan of swing/trapeze dresses, they just make me look pregnant and very unflattering. I’ve seen so many of them around and think they are super cute and comfortable, but just haven’t had one that flatters my body yet. The scoop back definitely hugs the curves of your back more giving it some shape. :)

  8. Great dress Jen! Looking forward to seeing you at our brunch date in a couple weeks. It will be great to catch up:)
