I think a red winter coat is one of those pieces that belong on a “sartorial bucket list”. Bold, happy and completely timeless, it’s a staple that will last you through the years if purchased in the right shape and material blend. I spotted this beauty in WhoWhatWear last month and decided it was gorgeous and could potentially be the red coat. However, I quickly pushed the thought aside, since it’s rare to find something in my size in a city full of petite Asian girls. Imagine my delight last week when I took an unassuming stroll into H&M during a bad day and found it- hanging on a rack, virtually ignored by the generally ‘safe’ Vancouver shoppers. Instant day brightener – in more ways than one!

  3. I am still in love with that red coat – who would have thought that this pretty piece of art would be from H&M. Great find!

  4. That first photo is SO adorable!! I am such a sucker for a red coat… I feel like it’s constantly on my wishlist. I had one back in university that I wore to death, and then I thought I found my DREAM red coat last year – a red tiered BB Dakota one, only to find the material was awful and now resembles polar fleece after just one winter. So sad! Yours is gorgeous on you and I adore it with the leoapard sweater peeking through!

  5. Such a beautiful coat and a great color on you ! XO

  6. I 100% agree with a colorful winter coat. I used to have a bright yellow one that I adored wearing soo much but have since traded it in for a basic black coat:( mainly because I am also petite and can never find coats I like in my size. That H&M one is lovely!

  7. That coat is beautiful, and was certainly a big hit at Cee’s this weekend!
So nice to see you and catch up!

  9. Jen, it was SO lovely to see you on Saturday – you looked absolutely gorgeous (as always!!) and these photos & outfit are so, so stunning. Hope you’re having a wonderful start to your week. xo veronika

  10. It’s amazing!! I always want to find the perfect red coat… I once did, but it had a pricetag that almost made me faint… x

  11. Nice coat! I like the voluminous silhouette and how the belt threads through the front.

I recently lost my heart to a burnt orange cocoon coat with Balenciaga-esque sleeves from One of a Few. Best recent purchase.

  12. i love this coat! i have a favourite red winter coat too. thrifted, wool/cashmere blend, from value village. it’s so warm, and lightweight, and seems to repel stains and wrinkles. magic coat?

  13. I totally considered this when I saw it at the Metrotown H&M and now I regret not getting it because it looks so good on you!

  14. Oh I saw this bad boy and opted out because I just bought everyone’s presents just recently aka NO MONEY. CREDIT MAXED OUT. Eek :(

I will live vicariously through you for now, also, that first shot is SO adorable!

P.S. Mind if I steal those heels? Thanks!

  15. Such a great coat! I used to have a red coat and I got so, so many compliments on it. It’s so nice to have a pop of colour when everyone else is wearing a dark, neutral coat.

  16. can’t believe the coat is from H&M!! I’ve been meaning to ask you about those zara heels. How do they fit and are those 6’s you’re wearing.

  17. Yes, the blogger cookie outfit! I am so in love with that coat Jen, I honestly may have to steal it from you one day. Slash buy the same one and we’ll just have to be matching. It was so good to see you, always love seeing your beautiful face and catching up, even if it’s quick! Hope to see you again soon lovely :)

    Alex xoxo

  18. Haha the coat we were ALL swooning over! Seriously such a great find, Jen and it looks superb on you. Nothing like a coloured winter coat to make these dark months seem brighter. Was lovely to see you as always xo

  19. That coat! I’m still so absolutely in love with it. I have a red coat myself, but it’s from when I lived in Winnipeg and tends to be too heavy for the mild weather here… Maybe that’s a reason for me to buy another one? Lovely to see you on Saturday- and I love seeing these photos in the same spot where I take mine so often :)

  22. Hehe, hate to admit it but I am one of those “safe” shoppers who quickly skip all the brights and bolds. You look great in it though – love how adventurous you are in terms of your fashion sense and how you’re always so willing to add some flavour to your wardrobe! Love the gold jewelry – I think I might have to pick up one of those Lauren Elan bracelets! She’s located in toronto so its so convenient!!

Looking forward to some holiday outfit pairings Jen! :)

  23. Yay, that’s great that you were able to find it in your size! Surprises like that are always nice. Hope that you had a good weekend with this pop of colour in your life (:

  24. Jen you look stunning in that red coat!! And don’t you just love when things like that happen? It was meant to be!

  25. Love that red on you! you look great! Red instantly makes everyone smile that much more!
