Before I began a style blog, I was a very safe dresser. Among my friends I was known as the one who only wore black and white the vast majority of the time, and maybe a pop of colour in a single element if I wanted to take a bit of a ‘risk’. It’s not that I think that blogging has led me to stray from my style, as the silhouettes I’m drawn to are still pretty much the same. However, is it crazy that I now consider these muted mustard pants and this navy blue lace blouse my ‘safe’ pieces in this look, ready to be accented with a punch of raspberry in the trench?!

  1. Eeep! There is that gorgeous YSL ring. Oh me so jelly! hahaha.

I really love this tri-color-combo. It is perfection, Jen. Then again, everything you wear is AMAZEBALLS! And whoa, I am so LOVING that hair ring of yours. Soooo sooo sooo pretty. I wish H&M had an online shop so I could snatch one up for myself. Boo hoo.

Well, it’s Wednesday, I hope yours will be wonderfully delightful!

    xx Love & Aloha

  2. Argh, so jealous. I bought that shirt from H&M after seeing it on your blog only to have to take it back because it fit me so poorly. It’s such a lovely piece that I’m quite a bit envious of you! ;)

  3. I feel you here! Before the blog white, black and beige were all the colors in my closet, once I started blogging I started to diversify my closet, think you’ve learned so fast and so good, cause you come up with the cutest combos, and this is no exception!

  5. I feel the same way! Blogging hasn’t changed my style so much as evolved it! And I am thankful for it! You look AMAZING here, that fuchsia trench is gorgeous, and I looove your sunglasses! And of course, the ring (!!!) which I’ve already commented on! Stunning!

  6. Oh I love that ring in your hair!!!! And I can totally relate! Blogging about your outfits is indeed a great way to push youself to be more extravagant and daring when it comes to dressing!

  7. Such gorgeous colors, Jen! They’re complimenting each other perfectly and I JUST LOVE how you added extra prints with those pumps! And I know what you mean, I used to only wear anything black or grey and skinny jeans. Hence the blog name MONOCHROMA.CHIC. But look how far I’ve become. My blog name is no longer relevant, hahaha.. :D

  9. I’m glad you ventured out to colour, colour is beautiful on you! I love those pants, at first I thought they were they H&M pants that Jean and Kileen have!

  10. Aww, love this look. It’s awesome that blogging has sort of helped you broaden your horizons on a personal style level. It makes me want to go back and look at your earlier posts now, to see the difference! ;) Since I’m still working on the whole being-comfortable-in-front-of-the-camera thing I haven’t done enough personal style blogging to really reap the benefits, but reading blogs like yours have definitely inspired the way I look at my closet now. I’m still a helpless black devotee, but I do find myself picking up some color here and there, or being less predictable with prints, blazers, scarves, the whole lot.

    P.S. Love your Arty ring!

  11. I love how blogging gives me inspiration and I’ve definitely been open to trying new styles and taking risks! That raspberry trench coat is awesome and that hair ring is adorable!! I’ve been trying to grow my hair out forever, I can’t wait til it’s long again and I can do more with it. Enjoy the rest of your week!

  12. I totally tried those pants on at TopShop too! Love the colour, but they look way better on you than they did on me. Love the tri-colour theme here, that lace top is so pretty :)

  13. The Coach trench is just adorable and I also really like the navy top. Very pretty!

  14. Before I started blogging (and even probably for the first year while I was blogging) I was a very safe dresser, too. Black with white and white with black, with the occasional bit of gray :) I’m still not one hundred percent comfortable mixing and matching brights, but the more girls I see do it well, like you’re doing here (that raspberry coat looks like it was made to match your mustard pants!), the more I feel like it’s okay for me to do it, too :)

  15. I love this tri-color outfit! I saw the pants at Topshop as well, really love the color. And it looks amazing with the raspberry.

I see myself as a pretty safe dresser as well, but set a goal that I will be more open to new colors/items/shapes this season.

  16. Love the colour combo! Even though the colours are bolder, it is still every bit as chic and elegant as all the other looks…classic “Jen” style but with a twist haha! Hope you’re having a good week so far love :)

  17. Jen, i love how you went into your style metamorphose; it’s difficult now to picture you without some sort of supreme color combo going on (b/c you always nail it!) but the thing about your taste is that it’s filled with classic cuts. never trendy or cheapened. you always source out each collection with off the charts results!!

this vibrant sight is beaming with joy. your raspberry trench totally grounds it all together, i’m always inspired here, today’s no different. thank you for the work and effort you do to share these ideas with us all. AND extra thanks for the metallic hair band – i’ve seen them around but had no idea where to find one. so cool! xoox ♥
