For a girl who has openly professed a dislike for the beach in the last few years, I’ve sure visited it a lot this summer (though I’ve no tan to show for it). I think the fact that the warm weather came so late has made me want to savour every last bit of sunshine. I’ve also come to love how fuss-free beach attire is: along with a messy bun and casual beach bag, this simple and sweet striped dress has been my go-to piece for lounging by the shore. It’s completely comfortable and perfect for throwing on over a bikini, but the knot adds a flattering and waist-cinching pop of detail that makes it sufficiently polished for a sunset dinner afterward.

Cute dress! That knot is so flattering!
Such a cute beach look, and polished enough for the city too. (I cringe whenever I see beach-goers wander around downtown in their bikinis at this time of year!)
What an interesting way to include a knot detail!

Keep your natural paleness. It means you’ll hardly be at risk for melanoma! I gasp openly at anyone who professes openly to hating the beach, especially since I live in Hawaii (btw, when in the WORLD are you visiting?). But when I lived in San Diego, I hardly ever went to the beach, except to run along the harbor boardwalks, or whatever, but that’s hardly a beach experience.
I love this dress. Something you can slip into and out of is perfect for beaches, especially the ones here. However, you’ll find me in a long-sleeved UPF 50 swim shirt and a big-brimmed sun hat. π
with love and aloha, Mae
