Classic Palette

February 29, 2012

As much fun as it is to play with colours and prints, black and white outfits will always have a special place in my sartorial heart. Before I started dating D (who greatly influenced the addition of colour into my wardrobe) a few years ago, my closet was filled almost entirely of these two tones. Although most of the time I like to wear more simple and timeless looks with this colour scheme, I occasionally enjoy playing up a slightly edgier vibe with details like leather collars, lace up booties and heavy gold hardware.

Wearing: YesStyle top, skirt and vest (c/o), MICHAEL Michael Kors clutch (similar), Stuart Weitzman booties (c/o), vintage belt, necklace from The Bay, BCBG rings, H&M hair ring

I believe gold hardware is a must for any black & white outfit, although I recently went for silver and was pleasantly surprised with the end result… :o)

This outfit is just perfect in every little detail!

Oh dear, I have the same problem. Although I’m trying to incorporate more colors into my wardrobe, I cannot help but gravitate towards more neutral palettes. I love how to spiced things up in your outfit with the addition of gold hardware.

Such a classy outfit, whenever I think of black and white, I think of uniform. This totally proved me wrong, I think I’m going to try some more black and white from now on 🙂

Hope the snow didn’t hit you too hard! I sure got a bunch of it in one night (over 15cm!).

I always think of a basic black and white outfit as being pretty bland, but you’ve proven that assumption wrong. Love the shiny gold accents and contrasting textures (metal, silk, faux fur).

I know what you mean! I like to revert back to classic black and white outfits once in a while because they’re so easy and require absolutely no thinking what so ever! Your outfit paired with the gold is so classy – love it!

If I’ve learned anything from Swank Heights’ latest posts, it’s that Black and White and other neutrals together always work best.

They’re the basic colors at each end of the light spectrum, which makes them strongest. Makes sense.

    LOVE THIS. So glam.
