After going through the process of downsizing your closet, then comes the fun part: building it back up! I’m excited to start sharing some of my “Closet Essentials” list with you, starting off with the super classic, tried-and-true black pump. I personally like mine single soled (i.e. no platform), pointy, and between 3-4 inches, as I think those features make for the most flattering and chic pump. I’d also recommend buying the best quality you can afford: it’s worth it to invest in great shoes, especially when it comes to a pair that you’ll be able to wear with absolutely everything… a true wardrobe workhorse, so to speak.

  1. This is such a closet staple that doesn’t get enough attention! I actually have two pairs of black pumps and still feel like I don’t have this staple in my closet – mostly because mine are uncomfortable and so I never end up wearing them! You described my ideal pump perfectly, too! I always prefer a pointed toe and I can’t go over 4″ or else my walk will definitely show it – 3-3.5″ is definitely my most comfortable ideal! I can’t wait to see more of this feature!

  2. I totally agree with you! those shoes match almost every outfit, and when it comes to quality it is very important not only because of the looks but also for the health. a lot of girls spent a lot of hours in those kind of shoes and if they are poorly make they can do some damage.

  3. I agree…a total wardrobe essential for any girl!! And yet, I don’t own a SINGLE pair of basic black pumps!! This is a situation that needs to be rectified as quickly as possible…I will definitely be checking out your shopping suggestions, Jen!!

  4. Definitely a staple in every woman’s closet. Crazy as it sounds, I bought my first black pump only TWO years ago. You know me, I’m a sucker for a CRAZY pair of heels… the funkier the better. LOL… but I’m happy that a black (single soled) pump lives in my closet. I think it’s time to get a new pair, though… :)

BTW, I’ve been meaning to email you back… soon!!!

    xx Love & Aloha
