After experimenting with different types of clothing, I have found that high waisted flared skirts are the shape for my body type: the way they fall away from the body is perfect for hiding my proportionately larger hips while the strategic waistbands help to accentuate my smaller torso. As such, finding the silhouette in trench coat form was a more than exciting discovering. This Zara coat is easily the favourite piece of outerwear in my closet nowadays; it’s so easy to just throw it on and feel put together, even when I’m not.

  1. I know what you mean about silhouettes! I love the flare because it accentuates all the curves in the right places!

  2. I have the same body type as your so I usually highlight my waist and hide the rest, and indeed this shape of skirt/trench is great! :D

  3. Ahh, my heart is BURSTING over that first photo! So, so cute!! That coat was a great purchase, I love the shape so much – I randomly grew hips a couple years ago, and this shape definitely helps balance me out! I’m a big fan of the high waisted full bottomed anything! You look GORGEOUS and so glam here! xo.

  4. I am soo in love with that trench…Bet you $10 they are out of stock.

  7. Yeah, for me, it’s the same thing….

I need to wear circle or flare skirts. Pencil skirts just don’t do it for my frame, unless they’re body con and short… It just won’t work.

You look like Audrey Hepburn. But much less serious. Very Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but without the whole Asian racism issue (Mickey Rooney’s character was a gross injustice to the Asian Community).

  8. I don’t know why, but this reminds me so much of Selena Gomez in her MV Round & Round (IT’S A GOOD THING I LOVE SELENA). Also, the flare definitely does wonders for you! I’m still trying to find stuff that’s appropriate for my petite frame, it’s really difficult, but I’m definitely willing to risk a little and try something new, super inspiratioanl if I do say so myself :)!

Also, I’m lovin’ the new avatar pic, I love your contagious smile! <3

  9. Oh yes! It’s absolutely perfect! That’s exactly the way every trench coat should look like! :o)

  12. I’ve made that discovery (about this type of garment for my body shape) as well! and this zara trench seems amazing, I think I’m gonna look for it in the shops and maybe get it for fall :D

  13. Every girl needs a perfect trench and this one truly looks like the perfect one for you :) It fits you like a glove, and I love the unusual cut. You look so well pulled together and downtown chic in these photos.

  15. As someone who also has a smaller waist and larger hips (more legs for me), I need to start wearing more A-line skirts as well! You look beautiful! Love the scarf and the trench together, madame! :)
