Four-Eyes: Please Help Me Choose a Frame!

May 26, 2015

For the vast majority of my life, I’ve been four-eyed. However, since my prescription is deep and my face is wide, it’s always been a pain to find a pair of specs that are actually flattering on me. As such, I’ve generally shied away from wearing glasses in public. Unfortunately, years of wearing contacts have begun to take a toll on the health of my eyes… and I’ve recently been told by my optometrist that I need to give them a rest.

Enter Spectacle Shoppe. When they got in touch a while ago about setting me up with the perfect pair of glasses, I gladly agreed to let them try their luck at something I’d long ago deemed impossible. And they certainly delivered: I went in last week and have never met a team so passionate about fitting the right pair of glasses for an individual – taking into consideration all factors like personality, face shape, prescription, and style.

I brought home two picks to test run before they put the lenses in my final choice: a slightly more quirky and fun You’s Amsterdam pair (left), and a classic tortoise-shell, cat-eyed Jimmy Choo pair. I think I’m a pretty bad judge of what looks good here, so I need your help (please)! Which pair do you prefer?

Definitely the You’s. They caught my attention as soon as I saw them. x

You look cute in both glasses but I will go for the more playful You’s!

This is such a cute dress and look. Love also your glasses (I wear sometimes a very similar style!)

Love the pair on the left, very quirky and cute! The other pair is too dark and cuts your face, definitely less flow.

I like the jimmy choo one! I find a bigger frame helps the glasses to look a bit more “chic” haha!

The ones in the third picture are my favourite! And I hear you about having horrible eye sight. I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12, and while I will go days without wearing contacts, and try to take them out early in the evening, I completely understand how your eyes can get irritated by wearing them. Loving these specs!

You look beautiful; you can’t go wrong with either. I can see why you’re having a hard time deciding. I think the Jimmy Choo’s are a bit more edgy than the You’s. So, if you’re after a bolder looker, I’d choose the Jimmy Choo’s.

I prefer the ones on the left to the jimmys. But either way, both look very cute!

I think both pairs look wonderful. Personally, I think the tortoise-shell ones are adorable, but I’m drawn towards the simplicity of the darker ones. The real question is which one you are drawn too and which one would fit you and your current wardrobe and personality. Good luck and I hope you enjoy whichever pair you choose.
