Upgrade

There’s always a happy satisfaction in finding a really great version of a classic piece… and that’s precisely how I felt when I recently found this denim jacket. Though I’d already had one in my closet for a few years, my previous jean jacket had always felt a little off to me. Although I did wear it, the piece wasn’t something I was ever particularly excited to put on: it was a tad short, a little ill-fitting around the bust, and the wash wasn’t the most flattering for my skin tone. It might sound frivolous, but when I visited Scotch & Soda‘s new Vancouver store last weekend and put this one on, all of those previous hesitations about my other jacket made sense. This one is well made, fits perfectly, and has the best little details… in other words, it feels like a full on upgrade. I’m coming to see that editing your closet and building it back up also means updating and upgrading older pieces with ones that are better and that I really feel great in. My old denim jacket is going to be sold, and I think I may be keeping this one on all Spring and Summer.
