Switched

December 19, 2011

{photos by Mina Sadat}
Since wearing the same jackets in the winter can get boring pretty fast and buying a new one constantly is out of the question, I’m trying my best to re-invent my pieces. Last week, I quickly switched out the original sash from this cape with a leather one from another jacket – a subtle but much needed refresher to make the piece feel fresh in my closet again. For a few years I’ve also been toying with the idea of switching up the buttons on a pea coat for gold ones, and this might just be the year that I do it!

Wearing: Zara cape and shoes, 7 For All Mankind pants, YesStyle scarf, Coach bag (c/o), YSL ring, Lauren Elan (c/o) and Joe Fresh (gold) bracelets

    I’m loving what you’ve done with this cape! It definitely gives it a fresh look. And the pairing with that pretty maroon scarf (it looks so cozy) is perfect.

    Cute cape! I sometimes throw large warm scarves over my coats to add a flair of newness. I never thought about simply switching the tie so thanks I may try it!

    I know just what you mean, Jen! It’s always a toss up between freezing and wearing the same few coats over and over. I think you’ve done a beautiful job of remixing your pieces, though- the leather sash looks wonderful with this jacket!

    LOVE this ensemble! so relaxed and cozy but structured and classic at the same time. πŸ™‚ are you wearing a structured blazer underneath? I think a cape is a wonderful idea for cold weather, especially if a structured jacket needs to be worn for work. I could never find a jacket to wear over my suit blazers, but this may be the answer! πŸ™‚

    Jen you are so stunning! That cape is to die for, I’m still on the hunt for one (well I haven’t really be hunting since exams), and I have to say this one you’re wearing is probably one of my favourites!

    Also, I totally cannot get enough of those Zara heels and that scarf. Such gems πŸ™‚

    Hope you have a fantastic Christmas this weekend xo!

    Love the pop of colours from the ring and the scarf! Changing up the belt is a great way to get more wears out of a jacket.

    I love your idea of switching things up a bit. It can be hard to look unique in only a few winter coat options. Thanks for the inspiration:)
