With Ease

July 2, 2014

I have a pretty prominently pear shaped figure. And while I’ve come to embrace and love it over the years, I’ve also accepted the fact that dressing for my shape means that certain styles just won’t work for me. One such example is the body hugging jersey dress: I’ve long admired the effortless ease they provide, but couldn’t really wear them well because of my proportionately wider hips. I recently came across this lovely t-shirt dress and, while I figured it probably wouldn’t look good on me, decided to try it on anyway — and was pleasantly surprised by how much of a difference a small detail makes. The front wrap and slightly looser fitted top of this dress definitely proved my prior thinking wrong and, coupled with an oversized cape, has become a go-to summer look.

Aw, Jen this dress is perfect on you! I absolutely love it! The wrap detail is so, so flattering and makes me seriously consider ordering it as a fellow pear shaped girl! πŸ˜‰ Love those sandals, too! Good Joe Fresh find! xoxo!

Never say never, dear Jen!! I think there is a variation to suit everyone for almost every trend out there…sometimes it just takes a little longer to find the right one!! And as for your supposed “pear” shape, you obviously do an incredible job with camouflage, ’cause I’ve never noticed fruit…only curves in all the right places!! πŸ˜‰

Love it! And I completely agree. My stomach has always been my problem area, and no matter what I eat or how I exercise, it always sticks out (no washboard flat abs here). And because of this, I’ve never thought shift or sheath dresses look good, seeing as they pull across that area. But I recently bought one online (to get free shipping on my order) and fell in love with it. It fit great, and was loose enough around the hips not to pull enough to emphasis my problem area.

Jen, that dress is gorgeous on you! I love the wrap detailing. It adds a nice touch to the look. Love how you’re rocking the cape. And great find at Joe Fresh with those sandals! May have to make a trip there.

[…] it just like this all summer long (and last summer, too — here’s the exact same look on the blog last year). It’s been a no-brainer since the clothes basically feel like pajamas but flatter my shape, […]
