My journey to the perfect pair of classic skinny jeans has been a long and pretty arduous one. I believe it started in the eighth grade, when Miss Sixty‘s were all the rage and the restricted blood flow through my legs and seriously limited movement were tolerated in the name of fashun. Then came years of pulling up the waistband of my low-rise jeans every time I sat down or stood up, lest I expose my undergarments to the adolescent world. In university, I began to use all of my hard earned cash from my part-time jobs to buy “premium denim”; many pairs, most of which didn’t even fit well, purchased solely for the so-called cool factor of the brands that were considered hip at the time (Rock & Republic, anyone?).
I’d like to think that I’ve smartened up a little since then, though it’s taken me a bit longer than I would have preferred. In the last few years I’ve realized that with my pear shaped body, high-waisted is best, and since then I’ve tried on countless pairs and have invested in purchasing from several brands. Former favourites have included the Citizens of Humanity Rockets, J Brand Maria’s, and FRAME Le High skinnies – and while there were always one or two things that have been off about each pair, they certainly seemed good enough, especially in comparison to the doozies in the past.
However, as I’ve gotten more inclined toward a leaner, minimal closet, I’ve become increasingly picky about what goes in and gets to stay in my rotation – including with my denim. My intent is to eventually have just one pair each in black, medium denim, and dark denim. Enter L’AGENCE. I’ve heard about these jeans for a while, and recently decided to give them a spin. Friends, these are literally the best high waisted skinnies I’ve tried. They’re thick and heavier weight like a cotton jean, but have an incredible amount of stretch. At the same time, they don’t loosen or sag with wear and somehow maintain their shape so well. And with a 9.75 inch rise, they really take “holding you in” to a whole new level! Lastly, they cropped length is perfect for us shorter girls, and they’re skinny all the way through, even at the ankle. I got the black, and am such a fan that I also ordered the Light Vintage and am considering Midnight as well!
This post isn’t sponsored by L’AGENCE in any way – I just want to share this brand with you! The jeans are definitely not cheap, but they will last and be a closet mainstay. They’re also available on Shopbop’s sale for 20% off (or 25% if you spend more than $500) until Friday. The sale technically starts tomorrow but they’re opening it a day early for my readers with code EVENT17. I’d recommend you order a couple of sizes with their easy free shipping + returns so you can see what fits best!

Hello!
Did you find that you had to size down in these? I wear 24/25. depending on the brand. I feel like I need to go down a size when there is a good amount of stretch. I aways wear 24 in Joe’s and AG’s but 25 in CH. I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you!
Hi MJ! I usually wear a 25 or 26 in CH and I got these in a 25. They’re definitely a softer jean so I’d probably go with your smaller size!
