Oops… black jeans, again. If you’ve been following my recent outfit posts, you might gather that these bottoms are the only ones I ever wear. But if I’m honest, it’s actually been kind of true.
Things have changed a lot since I started this blog over six years ago. Back in the day, this little website began with, yes, a love of aesthetics to some degree… but really more an obsession with shopping. I remember the first two or three years when I would just constantly buy things; if I was shooting a post, I would literally go to the mall and get whatever quick fix I could afford so I could create a something ‘exciting’. I felt like I needed something shiny and new each time to catch my readers’ attention… and to some degree, it worked.
There was definitely a lot going on inside that motivated all of that, and some substantial things had to happen in my life to veer me away from it (I won’t get into it today). But I guess the beauty of putting outfits together for years on end is that it’s helped me hone in on what my own style is and what I feel good in. In the last three years, I’ve been wanting to live more and more simply while continuing to be able to enjoy beauty and personal style. I’m still figuring it out, but I’m pretty thankful that things have changed and are changing. I don’t have this down by any means, but my goal is to work towards having a small, tightly edited wardrobe of quality pieces… things that will be well-used and well-loved for years to come.
Sometimes I’m not sure if these looks are even worth posting anymore, but as long as you are still here I’m happy to keep sharing this journey. Instead of driving you to keep acquiring and consuming, though, my hope is that this blog will inspire you to make use of what you own. I also hope it encourages you to be more thoughtful about the things you do buy, utilizing what you have in a way that makes you feel well put together and true to your style.
