2015 was a different kind of year: it felt slower than the previous few, held quite a few setbacks, and was undoubtedly at times frustrating. For me, 2013 and 2014 were marked so visibly by personal growth and big life lessons, and those things weren’t as clearly defined last year. I made decisions that didn’t pan out as planned, faced disappointment, and learned a couple of not-so-nice things about myself. And yet, looking back on it all, the small steps added up to some highlights and good things that I’ll certainly remember: I enrolled in classes for the first time since my undergrad (a big deal for me – I’m not an academic in the slightest!), took on a new job, and got engaged. So perhaps there was growth after all, it just came in a different form. Grateful for the way hindsight can bring clarity and vision.
2016 will be a year that’s full of change… and a lot of it will stem from starting a new life with my fiancé! Wedding planning is well underway (got my dress and make up figured out!), but I’m definitely more excited to actually be married. It’s a time of anticipation, and I’m looking forward to learning in bigger ways about what it means to consider someone else before myself. On the sartorial front, I’ll be continually simplifying and paring down, especially as I move towards living with another person and sharing both our spaces and bank accounts. I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with you all – stay tuned (and feel free to follow along on Instagram for more frequent updates). Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Jen! Best of luck in 2016 🙂
Oh it’s good to be slow when getting engaged.. you need time to plan and prepare for a lifetime together, it’s good to have time to breath all that in.. not to mention all the wedding planning! (I had a lot of fun with mine, designing my own dress and bridesmaid gowns and tons of diy decor ;D Just sharing with you for fun, i don’t design wedding stuff normally http://amandakphotoart.com/angela-alexander-new-york-city)
