I’ve never been a backpack kinda girl. Even in my high school years, I wore a messenger bag very early on in spite of the strain it would put on my upper body (anything to be cool, right?). These days, I’ve typically preferred to sling a roomy leather tote over one shoulder for my day-to-day. So when I got my hands on the beloved Kanken backpack from Fjällräven Canada recently, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But on the very first day I took it out, it’s safe to say that everything changed: it might sound over the top, but I couldn’t believe how much easier it was to carry things! I brought it with me to Montreal last week and, if the fact that I wore it nearly everyday is of any indication, it has definitely made itself into a closet mainstay. In addition to being way more comfortable and balanced, I realized that I actually really do like the look of it. Now, if only I could only turn back the time so I could have had one back in the day!

I found a vintage backpack on eBay at the beginning of summer and loved it for traveling, it was small and purse sized and exactly what I needed for running around a city without fearing loosing my bag when putting it down because it simply stayed on my back! Backpacks can be great… But I’m going to have to say purses are just better in general!
I love your styling here- the lightweight white dress with the heavy ankle boots is somehow perfectly balanced. Usually when people try that combination it bothers me, but I think your version is fantastic!

Definitely love Kanken bags. I have had one for a couple of years, so handy (except you dont use your hands a lot..more like shoulder-y)
Hahaha! Glad you love your Kanken, too! 🙂
I love your style! I just purchased a Kanken in the same color yesterday after spending days trying to decide on which color. I plan on using it as a diaper bag for my son. The timing of your post is perfect, it looks so classy on you and gives me hope that I can make a diaper bag look good too!
Thanks Mary! What colour did you decide on?
I ended up getting graphite! Please do share other ways you’ve styled your Kanken in the future. I’m always so inspired by your minimalist style.
