Considering I’ve lived about a 5-minute drive from the beach for most of my life, I’m not really there a whole lot. The beaches here in Vancouver aren’t really the most picturesque, and quite frankly being in the sun all day with big crowds just kind of drains me. A few days ago, however, a slightly different light was cast on it: the relatively warm yet just cool enough weather meant that it was basically deserted and perfect for a late afternoon walk. This year so far has been pretty marked with challenging some previously held ideals, and as silly as it may sound, seeing the beach in this new way felt a little bit symbolic of that.
p.s. Heels on the beach are a bad idea. I don’t recommend it.
