One thing I’ve always enjoyed in getting dressed is the creativity that it can allow. I’ve long loved the process of making more out of my pieces by trying to style them different, slightly unconventional ways; this can obviously make for a hit or (more often) a miss, but sometimes an unexpected surprise happens. This ‘dress’ that I’m wearing was created with a little proportion play by layering a not-quite-long-enough blouse over a pencil skirt, and the result is something that I’m planning on wearing all summer long. What are some of your favourite styling tricks?
Blouse: Joe Fresh (c/o) | Skirt: LOFT (old, similar here and here) | Trench: Club Monaco (sold out, but almost identical version here) | Pumps: Zara (old) | Bag: Salvatore Ferragamo (vintage)

It’s such a clever idea to style a long blouse over a lace skirt! Love the peek of lace at the hem which is so pretty! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Jen, I’m new to your blog and quite taken by your elegance and style so thought I’d leave a comment. This blouse over pencil skirt combination is perfect and I don’t blame you for wanting to wear it all summer. You look absolutely gorgeous in it.
