Sunnie Days

March 4, 2011

Because quality sunglasses tend to cost so much, I have only ever chosen “classic” shapes that I will be able to wear for years to come (see here, here and here) and hopefully will not date in a matter of a few seasons. However, while perusing ASOS a while ago, I came across this quirky pair and they were the perfect candidate to have some fun with: navy blue and gold, under $20 and big enough to cover my eyes on a make up free day. What’s not to like?

Are you a spender or a saver when it comes to your sunglasses?

Wearing: H&M jacket (recent), Zara blouse, skirt and shoes, Hue tights, purse from local boutique, necklace from The Bay, River Island sunnies

Love that jacket on you! I only have one pair of expensive sunglasses and I think they’re not even that much compared to a lot of the ones out there. I prefer to save for sunglasses as I can be clumsy and break and/or lose them easily.

I’m definitely a saver (wait, this means I don’t buy expensive shades, right?) I break sunglasses like I break cookies. H&M and Forever21 are my sources for sunglasses. Although, I love Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford’s sunglasses! I just can’t justify spending money on them (I’d rather spend it on shoes!) 😀

I’m a saver when it comes to everything. Hardly more than 5% in my wardrobe (minus shoes) costs more than $60USD.

    SAVE! SAVE!

Though I bought expensive Raybans in a trendy cat eye with a pearlized kind of sheer blue frame. CUTE. Stupid, though. They fall off my face, because I have no nose bridge.

    FAIL.

    LOVE THE LEOPARD.

I only by cheap sunnies, as I always break/lose/ruin mine. Those ASOS ones are money well spent…so cute! And I must say that the sillhouette of this outfit is perfect for your figure. The boxy jacket with a waist defining skirt/top combo…perfection xo

Cute look! I like quality sunglasses, but I pick them up at discount places like TJMaxx so I don’t spend so much. 🙂

I only have one pair of sunglasses right now, but if I were to get another one, I would no doubt go for a more high-quality pair that I could wear for a long time.
As for your gorgeous outfit, I’m craving lots of colour these days, and your lovely jacket would definitely make me really happy, it’s so pretty!

So cute! I’m definitely a saver when it comes to sunnies (although I desperately want those cat-eye Tom Fords you’ve got!). I buy inexpensive ones with, most of the time, rather quirky styles. The result is a pretty epic collection, haha. I tacked a metal clothes hanger on my wall to hang them all on, but I’ve run out of room! I have sunglasses sitting around everywhere in my room, it’s a little ridiculous…

well as i already told u on fb, i have the matching skirt for the jacket. i didnt buy the jacket just cause i wasnt sure if it would be too much. i would want to wear them together for a complete mod girl look but then i’m afraid of looking clownish at the same time. do u have the skirt as well? maybe for our next outting we can play twins and wear the suits together.

I made the mistake of buying a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses-the next season I bought a great pair of Cheap Monday plastic aviators and now I wear those all the time-I don’t think I’d buy expensive sunnies again.

Those ASOS ones are great! I love that they have free worldwide shipping now-so tempting.

I love that the shades are navy – so much more rare than black.

    Cute lil’ jacket.

I’m def a saver when it comes to my sunglasses EXCEPT my hubs surprised me with (my first pair of designer) a pair of Gucci shades for Christmas. I was utterly shocked and am trying SUPER hard to use the case, and keep them under lock and key when they aren’t on my face 😉

I prefer to invest in sunnies. 🙂 I’ve had 4 Chanel pairs in the past and payed a hefty price tag on one of them. I loved them, but had to finally retire them. I love my current Rayban’s and the style (aviator) is timeless, so I know I will get longevitiy out of the purchase. But don’t get me wrong… drugstore or cheapy sunnies are super fun too… the ones your got a super duper sweet! And since I don’t have perfect (20/20) vision, I want to make sure I take care of my eyes with better quality lenses. 🙂

AND I’m so lovin’ your skirt Jen… You seriously are the epitome of femininity!! Love it.. and love ya!

    xx Love & Aloha

What a great pair of shades! Love the coral jacket too.

I’ve only ever splurged on one pair Chanel sunglasses; they were a souvenir from my first trip to New York and a reward for myself for finally getting over my ridiculous fear of touching my eye and being able to wear contacts. I’ve worn glasses since I was 8 and I was always very careful with taking care of them, so I don’t have a problem splurging on sunnies. That being said, my other shades–a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a pair of Wayfarer knockoffs by Matix–were freebies (the former from a website looking for a review, the latter from a media preview gift bag).

The colour of the jacket is gorgeous! Love that it has gold buttons and that it’s structured & cropped. Ahh everything I love! Must make a trip to H&M soon. When it comes to sunglasses, I’m split between both. For more classic style, I spend more. For more trendier, funkier styles, I tend to buy them from Aldo, H&M, UO, etc.

I just LOVE your style so much. You are so creative when it comes to outfits 🙂 I do love those sun glasses! I’ve never invested in a nice pair of sunglasses before because I am pretty clumsy with them. I’ve decided to change that and will be purchasing a not too expensive pair for this summer 🙂 Classic is the way to go!

Aw, love this outfit Jen! You always find the cutest and most beautiful pieces. I can’t wait til I see that gold embellished top in an outfit post! Love the scallop detailing.

I wish I could find sunglasses that would look good on my face – I just returned my Ray Ban wayfarers .. apparently they made me look blind 🙁 At least I saved $160. Maybe I’ll be able to seek out a cheap find at f21 😛

P.S. it was super warm today which explains how I was able to run out into the sun to take a few photos 😛 I usually spend less than 5 mins outside – I wouldn’t dare to jump out when it’s negative 5 or less!
