It always surprises me how much a simple haircut can refresh an overall look. Ever since I got this long bob a couple of weeks ago it’s made me feel just a little bit edgier and more ‘done’, which has in turn influenced my clothing choices. The tidiness of the shorter, textured do has unexpectedly made me more comfortable in the oversized pieces I’d previously felt like I drowned in. My longer hair often felt out of control, and although I didn’t realize it at the time it was so substantial that it limited the kinds of silhouettes I could wear. I’m excited to play with less structured pieces like this plaid coat to juxtapose with the new lob! I’m also loving the way hats are looking with this new cut and am looking forward wearing more of them this winter.
All this to say… if you’ve been considering a more drastic change for your hair – another reason to do it is it can also freshen up your sartorial choices!
By the way, these flat mules were one of my purchases this fall and I’ve been wearing them almost every day – basically as long as it’s not pouring out. They go with everything and are super comfortable for my wide feet. They’re also vegan leather, which in my opinion, means that they can take more of a beating when I walk in them. Oh, and my husband thinks they look like Robin Hood shoes and openly dislikes them, and that man-repelling nature of the shoe almost (read: definitely) ups their cool factor for me even more. 😉

Jen, your hair looks so good and I love the vibe it lends to this outfit!! I’m considering a chop soon… so hopefully this post will give me the encouragement I need! <3 Hope your Tuesday is a fabulous one!! xo
Thanks so much V! Always good to hear from you… I think you’d look amazing with a shorter cut!
Love your new haircut!
I’m in need of a haircut and considering going shorter than my normal “long enough to pull back” length. If you don’t mind sharing, I’d love to find out how long it takes you to style this cut daily. 🙂 Thanks!
Hey Helen, it takes me about 10 (leisurely) minutes. I curl it in large sections with a straightening iron and then put some matte clay in it to give it a bit of volume and hold. And since I don’t wash my hair everyday, it gets easier the longer I go between washes!
Your hair really suits you! Love the coat~

Thanks Vivian!
I agree with you! A haircut really does have an impact with clothing choices. I also chopped my hair off and got a long bob after my wedding was over and I loved it! But now I also feel less girly when I put on more feminine clothes…
Haha that post-wedding chop! I agree it’s a little less girly but I actually love the contrast between an edgier cut with feminine clothes 🙂
