For as long as I’ve been dressing myself, it’s been largely the same: whenever I find something I really like, I’ll wear it over and over, and over again. When I was in high school, it got to the point where I had a classmate ask me if I owned anything except for my red TNA zip up jacket and Mavi jeans. Instead of being embarrassed, though, I’ve always kind of prided myself on this early rendition of “uniform” style.
These days, it’s still very much the same, though I now do it on a more seasonal basis. Typically, I’ll find myself reaching for the same pieces repeatedly for a few months at a time – or longer – and building my looks around these grounding elements. I would consider each piece in this look one of these items. I’ve had some of these garments in my closet for years (these shorts are going on their 7th year now), while others are new additions (the backpack and sandals are new pieces this year!), but they all qualify as wardrobe MVP’s that I’ll be wearing for years to come.
