For various reasons, fully light coloured outfits have never really been my cup of tea. I’m quite pale, so I’ve often felt that lighter hues washed me out. Because I’m also not rail thin, it’s never seemed to be the most conventionally flattering way to dress. Oh — and lastly, and as all of my close friends know, I’m also ridiculously prone to spilling and staining. Maybe it’s because of the fact that I’m getting married this summer, but lately I’ve been wanting to break out of that and start going lighter. I can’t say that I’m completely comfortable with it yet, but lovely and forgiving pieces that pair together perfectly — like this soft, flowy midi skirt and lace up pumps — have made it much more appealing and non-intimidating.

Love your heels. I need a lace up pair that colour.

I feel you about the spill paranoia- I can’t wear a white blouse without constant concern over marks and drops and spills! I guess it is good wedding practice! The spring and summer always make me want to lighten up my otherwise very dark wardrobe- its good to breath in some fresh whites and grays! This is beautiful!

It’s amazing the list of things we think we don’t look good in..looking at your pictures I’d never think you had an adversity to wearing light colored clothing. I think you look great.
