Waking up to sunshine this weekend was unexpected and wonderful to say the least. I couldn’t remember the last time I wanted to get out of bed so badly and get outside! I threw on a casual and comfortable outfit, looking forward to walking outside for hours with the warmth on my face. The sunlight proved to be deceiving though, as throwing on an overcoat was barely enough to prevent me from catching a cold from the frigid air and we had to quickly duck inside immediately after these photos were taken (see how ridiculously cold I look in the second photo? Haha). In any case, it brought me great joy to prematurely dress for the coming Spring even though it was short-lived and I can’t wait until it gets truly warm again!

What are you looking forward to wearing this Spring?

  2. Haha you do look cold! I’m looking forward to sunshine without deceit as like you, I tend to go overboard when the first rays of sun hit and fool myself into thinking it’s time to lay back on the layers.

  8. Such cute and comfy outfit, Jen! You looks so adorable in your outfit. I am so jealous with the warm weather you have. I am taking a day off from work today due to the icy condition.

  9. Another amazing outfit, LOVE it! You look super cute.
For me it’s so hard to dress cute when it’s snowing outside and it’s all yucky and dirty once it starts melting. So I’m definitely looking forward to spring and cute clothes :)

  11. Love, love, LOVE the cropped pants! I love the black shoes and belt with the white and khaki and I adore the pop of color in the necklace. This is one of my favorite outfits!

  12. Kudos to you for being brave enough to, er, brave the cold for these photos. The Lanvin x H&M necklace is lovely–it really ties together your outfit and adds the perfect colourful accent to all the neutral tones.

  13. The sun this weekend was totally deceiving, wasn’t it? Like you, I’m getting excited for warmer weather :)

  14. I love your coat, it’s so pretty! Well we’re going into Autumn in Aus and I’m looking forward to wearing my tights with dresses again :)

  15. I get so jealous that you get to experience the 4 distinct seasons. As you know it’s basically SUMMER here year round.. okay, maybe spring/summer year round. AND although I’m 99% certain I wouldn’t want to live in a place where it snowed or reached below 30 degrees (f), it’s definitely a place a I would like visit.

Great easy weekend look Jen. I still love that necklace of yours. Probably one of my favorite pieces you own. ;) As for something I’m dying to wear for spring… it would probably be something floral-y. I’m thinking a sheer floral maxi skirt is in my DIY-ing future. hee hee.

Wishing you warmer weather very soon!

    xx Love & Aloha

  16. Hahahaha, your face in the second pic says it all! I did a little photoshoot with my boyfriend the other day and there were so many pics that had to get trashed immediately because I looked so visibly cold and sad in them lol.

I LOVE this outfit though…I love the eclectic touch with the way you accessorized it, and at the same time it’s so perfectly ladylike and chic. Like usual, you look amazing!

Sorry you were cold! It’s either sunny and freezing or raining. We can’t win! (I guess that’s what winter is though hey? haha)

  20. Love your style and the pictures are stunning! You are ADORABLE. Beautiful coat and I love it paired with the rolled up pants/shoes. The necklace is a great pop of colour, which gives the outfit a more fun touch! Great to see that you are from Vancouver too. Yay, for Vancouver bloggers. xx veronika

ps thank you for your super sweet comments, they made my day.

  21. Yay, a Canadian! I must say though, I am so jealous of your lack of snow. Your style is so sophisticated and gorgeous. I love the fit of these trousers on you, just so effortlessly cool!

  22. THIS is your casual outfit? Amazing. My casual is nothing compared to yours. You always look so gorgeous! Your oufits are so well put together and very classy. Love the pants. They look very comfortable. Love that it has a bit of sheerness to it when the sun hits.

Non fashion related, but love the photography and the lighting. Your boyfriend took them, right? Props to him! Very talented.

  23. I’m new here. Blogwalked from Serena’s. I read about how your like shortbread pastry for egg tart and decided, I’ve to come here. I love the shortbread crust too! As in the crumbly kind instead of the flakey pastry kind.

I love how the sunlight makes the pictures so beautiful and you look stylishly adorable. Happy rabbit new year if you do celebrate!

  24. Sunday was SO glorious but I agree deceiving temperature-wise. You always look so effortlessly put together, the entire outfit is so amazing. That necklace was such a great purchase xo

  25. Haha you look just GORGEOUS in your pictures, even with the frigid cold. I actually caught a cold which is really annoying ’cause my nose is always runny and gross and I have to go to class. blah.
    Kiss to ya missy!

  26. The snows have fallen here and there is absolutely no way I can wear anything BUT leggings + frumpy sweaters. It’s -21C every night and there’s 1.5Ft of snow piled up on the ground everywhere.

I revel in the idea of golden light like this and I wish we could enjoy the same.

I also wish I lived in Vancouver, or back in Victoria (my birthplace), or even back in San Diego, where the weather is decidedly less sucky.

Please continue to bring the inspiration and sunlight into your photos. I’ll be living vicariously until we reach spring in late May.

  27. oh God, if I only could dress this well for the weekend :) You look amazing, Jen. I love the pop of red in this outfit. And those ALDO wedges are soooo divine, I’m thinking of getting them (or waiting for them until they go on sale!)

And I agree with Mae. Frumpy sweaters and jeans/leggings make up my uniforms these days. It feels like -20 outside!! :(
