During an afternoon stroll with a friend this week, we wandered into an unassuming re-sell shop and I struck gold. Handmade, sequined and beaded on wool (it is heavy) with scalloped edges, the gorgeous vintage piece was hanging on the wall and I immediately knew it was special. Once I tried it on, I knew I couldn’t leave the store without it and luckily the gracious shop keeper let me take it home for less than the price of a typical top from Zara! It was impossible to capture the true colour and beauty of this top in photos, but it is without a doubt one of the most standout pieces in my closet and I am so excited to wear it!

What’s your favourite piece with a story in your closet?

  1. The top is beautiful as well as functional, the long zipper can offer an easier time wearing (and less likely to snag). Love the scales look, so glittery and full of fun! It looks so bold, would you still wear one of your statement necklaces with it? =0D

  2. I actually just found this adorable floral dress at my local goodwill. It was a total gem, and only $5! I love thrifting :).

  3. Oh this is so beautiful! Can’t wait to see an outfit post in this! I think my piece that has the best story and that I carry the most sentimental attachment to is my prom dress…I wanted something different so I hunted down this original mini dress from the 60’s…it’s bubblegum pink and covered in lace but I still love it to this day!

I must have missed you at the Dace event, but I hope you enjoyed yourself! Hopefully see you kicking around the city in the next couple weeks at one of the events :)

  6. I saw you tweet about this! Looks gorgeous. 100% wool and sequined all over though…doesn’t that make it heavy and super warm?

It was nice meeting you outside the Alternative Apparel preview. Did you end up making it to dace? :D
