It took a lot of convincing from others, but I at last did it. Cheesy title aside, I finally decided to take out the tripod today and snap a few shots of myself in the backyard. I felt a bit silly doing it, but it definitely wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. In spite of the top of my wonky tripod constantly tipping over (thus the crooked shots), it’s nice to know that I can do this whenever I want and don’t have to find a photographer to post! So expect to see lots coming soon!

After letting them know how much I adored this piece, the girls at Harriet Grey were kind enough to offer to send me another from their collection! It was a tough call deciding which one I wanted but this intricate hematite multi-polygon piece is what I settled on. Isn’t it great? She has such tasteful, affordable statement jewelry and the quality is awesome (looks so much more expensive than it is). Check out her website and facebook page!

These pants were brought home by my mother from my parents’ recent trip to Hong Kong. She had originally paid $45HKD for them (about $6.50CAD) to wear as pajama pants, but they were too low waisted for her so she handed them to me. They don’t fit the greatest and the pants are flared so it looks a bit awkward even rolled up, but I thought it would be fun to wear them… especially since I told my boyfriend about them via email and he basically forbade me to wear PJ pants out no matter how “stylish” I said they were, hahaha (don’t worry babe, I ended up changing out of them before I headed out tonight!).

I’m finally done my courses so it’s time to relax (and look for a job!). Thanks for keeping in touch even though my posts have been so sparse!!

…and everything girly under the sun!

  2. These pants are lovely! They don’t look a least bit like pj pants at all. Keep wearing them girl! They look extremely comfortable. The sheer top and the statement necklace look great as well!

  3. You look great with self portraits. I did that in the past but those picture never turned out as good as yours. I still bother hubby to take pictures for me

  4. These self-pics are quite good! I can’t do them at all and have to bug the bf. I esp. love the choice of the blue background which makes your outfit pop. Who cares if those are mom’s PJ’s? They’re trendy enough to wear out!

  5. I like the pictures and you have a lovely smile! Have you ever been to HK? I have a few times, I love it!

  6. you did it much better than me and I’ve been taking my own pictures for awhile now! girl, what’s your secret? ;)

on to the outfit: GORGEOUS 1000x! I absolutely love the muted color palette. Each piece is only 1 shade lighter/darker from the other and they blend perfectly! And yes, you, the queen of statement necklaces, that’s such a gorgeous neck piece :) I’m in love <3

  11. I love this look – cuffed khakis are a look I’ve been meaning to try.

Also, It’s so funny that I stumbled upon your post because I just got a tripod last week and have been trying it out, but I’m too scared to bring it out in public (I fear I’ll be the neighborhood creep!). It looks like you have some interesting scenery to work with in your yard, and the photos came out great!

  12. great outfit!

    Thanks for the sweet comment!
I never made a headboard from scratch. I had a headboard in the basement and I just cut fabric to hide the wooden area. BUT, i did find this great video on youtube that is super helpful for someone wanting to make a headboard from scratch. It was made by design sponge!

  13. congrats on your self-portraits! they look really good! and you look so pretty in PJ pants haha jk. i couldn’t have been able to tell they were originally intended to be worn to sleep if you didn’t mention that part, i like the uneven-ess of the rolled up cuffs.. it kind of gives it that haphazard look. great necklace and i love the sheer blouse too!
