Treehouse Getaway with Lincoln Canada

It’s the opposite of what I thought would happen, but ever since we got married it’s ironically been more difficult to spend quality time together. Trying to fit two schedules together and being so much more involved in each other’s lives definitely hasn’t equaled more time! So when Lincoln Canada reached out and asked if we wanted to take a trip tailored to what our idea of “quiet luxury” was, the answer was a very quick, very enthusiastic YES! The result: my very first “glamping” experience and a few restful, special days away. Click through for more photos and for more thoughts on our time!


The Stay | When we were considering options for our minimoon after the wedding, Rockwater Secret Cove was definitely among the top picks. Romantic, secluded, and on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of BC, it seemed like the perfect spot for some unwinding after months of craziness. Because it was out of our price range we ended up going somewhere else (which was equally beautiful), so getting to come here with Lincoln was a definite treat! We took a quick ferry ride over from Vancouver and drove slowly through a couple of towns, stopping at thrift stores and coffee shops along the way. We arrived just as the sun was going down and checked in to one of their tenthouse suites, which are private “treehouses” nestled in an area about a 5 minute walk from the rest of the resort.


With heated floors, a jetted tub and a fireplace, it was definitely as romantic as we envisioned! Waking up to a sunset with an unobstructed view of the ocean was something else. On our second day we were treated to ocean-side, outdoor massages which was naturally incredible.


One large downside for us was unfortunately the cuisine. Although Rockwater has its own restaurant, we felt the food was lacking quality – especially for the price. The resort is a 15 minute drive from the closest town, but even that is tiny and is limited in food choices itself. There is a mini fridge in the tenthouse suite but no heating devices, so bringing your own food is also not really an option. Food is a big part of enjoying a new place for us, so this mattered!

Even so, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It really was a great place to unplug, get away from the city, and just be with each other (because you don’t have a whole lot of other things to do!).

The Ride | The last thing I could claim is to know a lot about cars, but the first thing I noticed when we picked up the new Lincoln MKZ is that it immediately just felt luxurious and different. The interior and trunk were both roomy, and the ride was powerful but also ridiculously smooth and quiet. The leather seats not only heated up but also had a cooling option – which was the first time I’d ever seen that in a car! With a long sunroof that extended to the back of the car, a fully decked out touch screen,  and massaging chairs (!) it quickly proved to be an ideal vehicle for a super comfortable and indulgent road trip.


My husband, who drove for a lot of the time, was especially impressed with all of the extra thoughtful features in the car – they really did think of everything! The dashboard had elements that told you the speed limit of the road you’re on, and your current fuel economy depending on how much the gas pedal was used. And when we drove at night in the small town highways, the high beams even automatically turned on as opposing traffic cleared so that we could see better. Lastly, as a recording engineer trained in sound, he was pleased with the sound system, which definitely counts for something!


We’re so grateful to have gotten to spend a few days away together in such a lavish way – thanks Lincoln for spoiling us!
