I’ve heard many a stylish person say that when getting dressed in the morning, their choices are based entirely on how they feel. While that’s true for me to some degree, my relatively systematic personality has actually narrowed down my process to a few different “formulas”. One such formula, which happens to be a favourite, is to style an outfit by blending numerous textures, colours and elements… and pulling the whole thing together with two similar pieces to prevent it from looking like too much of a mish mash (the necklaces and shoes in this case). Do you use “formulas” when you get dressed, or is it more of a free flowing process for you?

  1. LOVE this mix – I have that same yellow top & I adore how you’ve styled it here!

  2. This outfit is so lovely. I am a sucker for all things in primary colors, and I love that you played with that, but that it isn’t so obvious!

  3. I follow a formula as well, and it’s similar to yours actually! But some mornings, the formula is out the window and it’s black skinnies and a simple top. Some days, I just can’t be bothered to think haha!

  4. Oh, also meant to say that I LOVE that Joe Fresh top and must find it in my local store! Yellow is such a good color on you!

  5. I am very much the same way! Right now, slightly high waisted shorts are very much a part of my formula :) Yours is adorable!

  6. My “formulas” revolve around having multiple versions of the same silhouette or piece (e.g. striped tees, pencil skirts, statement necklaces, interesting flats) and coming up with an infinite number of easy combinations using them.

  7. Love the way you played with textures and the royal blue of your necklace and shoes puts it all together perfectly.
