Textures

November 30, 2011

Up until last year I was completely against fur vests: I thought they were way too bohemian and it was nearly impossible to wear without looking tacky. I guess it’s all about baby steps- I started with one last year and now my count has gone up to three! This black one from YesStyle is my new favourite, since it adds texture to a look without being overbearing.

p.s. yikes – sorry for the super tired looking face. Winter can do that to you. 🙁
Wearing: YesStyle faux fur vest and scarf, BB Dakota jacket, 7 For All Mankind pants (my favourite pants!), Marc by Marc Jacobs flats (similar), MICHAEL Michael Kors bag

I have those exact same 7FAMs and wear them all the time. They’re so versatile. Love this look, Jen! It’s nice to see you in pants for a change 🙂

All the different textures are working really nicely together and you’re definitely right about this fur vest! I especially like all the textures at play since it’s a mostly monochromatic outfit. Pretty (and warm!)

I found a jacket similar in style and texture to yours last year at Banana Republic, on sale, and didn’t purchase it. Every time I see something similar I’m reminded of that bad decision! This is a great outfit.

Jen, I am in love with this outfit! It has everything I’ve been loving this season – burgundy paired with black, lots of gold accessories, and faux fur! And like you, I was so not on the fur vest train until recently… but now I neeeed one in my life! 😉 Gorgeous as always, m’dear!

That fur vest looks amazing on you! Even though YesStyle has so many cute things at really inexpensive prices, I’ve never bought anything from there – I’m afraid shipping might take to long

do you find yesstyle clothes to be “worth it”? I just feel like being a wholesaler their clothes should be cheaper, but I’m really curious what you think about the quality because they have a lot of cute stuff!

You look absolutely gorgeous as always Jen! I ADORE the pop of red, I’ve been on the hunt for all these bright coloured knits lately, I think it’s Vancouver’s winters that are kicking our butts.

P.S. LOVE those pants as well, I tried them on but couldn’t justify dishing out the $$, after seeing you wear them so often I’m definitely regretting it!

P.P.S. Is it bad that I’ve been wanting fur vests as well…? I’m considering getting one of the little girl ones from H&M!

What are you talking about with a “tired face”? Haha you’re crazy, you always look so perfect. It’s annoying! Anyway, I love this outfit, you’re right in the fact that some of them can be a bit overbearing, but this one in particular is just perfect because it adds texture without too much bulk and is so versatile thanks to its colour. Also loving the punch of colour in your scarf! Beautiful as ever my lovely pal 🙂

Chunky scarves are a must for our Canadian weather. Love the colour of that, but it’s so expensive (for a scarf)!

I love the gold chain-theme running through the outfit, topped off with a pop of colour from a chunky scarf. Warm and sophisticated.

I’m still not quite on the point of buying a fur vest… I love fur coats, but a fur coat without sleeves is somehow so much more intimidating! I love the way you’ve been styling yours, though, and that pop of colour in your red scarf is the perfect finishing touch 🙂

catching glimpses of you after so long really does make me smile Jen. it’s like the times you forget how great it is to go for a massage and then you’re all “gotta do that more often”. my visits have been lackluster to say the least but wanted to grab this time to check out your latest/greatests!!!

really inspiring ensemble. i’ve always felt kinda like a muppet when trying to pull off faux fur but the way you’ve nailed it here is pure Parisian couture styles. very classy, chic and current vibe. the gold accents and knit scarf are absolutely the right touches. it must be a lot of fun to plan these looks, i can see you laying it all out….factoring in the weather, the location, the finite details and then mastering up each finishing touch so that the results are showcased in such a way your whole viewing community gasps with awe. yes, my mind does get carried away, ah well. i know you are very humble so that’s all i’ll say for now but really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for the cookie exchange! xo ♥
