Touch of Whimsy

January 2, 2013

Out of the fear of looking younger than I already do, it’s been a while since I’ve considered wearing patterned tights. However, the classic navy and blue of this polka-dotted pair caught my eye the other day, and the fact that they were about 70% off sealed the deal completely. Paired with simple pieces in neutral hues, I like the way they inject a dose of whimsy into an otherwise classic look.
Wearing: J.Crew jacket and tights, Zara blouse and leather skirt, Artessorio bag (c/o – also love this white version), 3.1 Phillip Lim pumps, Coach rings

I would never assume they would make a person look to young, I would just stop and think how fun! I always worry for myself though if they will make large legs look even more so. I tend to stay away.

Super cute! I too fear of looking younger but I’ve been all about patterned and colored tights this year! I think they are just so fun, and as you said, the perfect touch of whimsy!

Yes, a perfect touch of whimsy! I also love the little pop of surprise when you revealed the heel on your shoes. Enjoy looking younger than your years. There will come a time, which is Now for Me, when you’ll wish you looked younger. 🙂

Happy New Year, Jen! What a way to ring in the new year. I love love love this look. A classic and whimsical look, styled to perfection. It’s crazy that I yearn to wear tights, but the tropical weather here puts my desire to a halt. Although, it has been quite “chilly” the past few days.

I wish you an amazing 2013! I feel like this year is truly going to be stellar. Lots of opportunities await us all. Thanks for always being so sweet and I truly can’t wait until we meet in real life! Perhaps, this year. 😉

jen you look very classic – i don’t think the dotted tights detract from the leather and tweed textures or make you look young at all. you are the queen of making more mature fabrics look youthful and fresh!

Love this outfit. I don’t think it makes you look younger at all! I totally understand the concern – I always am afraid that an outfit will make me look younger as well. I mostly deal with it by dressing kind of formally and people are always asking me, why I’m so dressed up all the time. I have to figure out a way to balance my outfits…
