A Midi-summer Night's Dream

{Photos by Fotowok}

I had never given midi-skirts a chance in the past because I was certain that my body type was the epitome of what couldn't wear one: being only 5'3 with legs that could be described as "sturdy" by some (see here), it just didn't seem in the cards for me to look good in this spring's ever popular skirt shape. Slipping on this Club Monaco beauty has changed my mind: The Pamera not only surprisingly worked for my stature and build, but the pleats danced beautifully in the wind and the piece made me feel pretty the instant I put it on. I think it is safe to say that I am now a believer that the midi skirt can work for anyone.

Wearing: Club Monaco Pamera skirt (c/o), Forever 21 dress (worn as top) and necklace, MINKPINK cardigan, Zara shoes, Coach bag

  2. AHH You look so adorable! I absolutely looooove the fit of the skirt, I have to agree with you on the SOME skirt lengths being unflattering on us petite girls. This however looks fantastic! :) TOO CUTE JEN <3

Love the midi skirt on you!! I've never thought about trying a midi skirt.. maybe I will soon! You pull off feminine pieces so well.

In response to your comment, I'm headed to HK and China! :) I've only been there once when I was 1!! haha so I'm kinda nervous..

For "sturdier" legs, I find that the application of a right shoe is what makes the midi skirt work. No flats or anything chunky.

But you deployed it very beautifully here. The blush shade goes very nicely with your skin tone.

  14. I had a fear of maxi skirts for the longest time for the exact same reason- I'm 5'2" and almost anything that isn't fitted can easily make me look like I'm a little kid dressing up in my mom's clothes. But once I went for it, I realised that as long as you style something right, you can wear it no matter what your size or shape. I still hesitate with maxis, mainly because I tend to trip over the hem, but midis are my absolute favourite. There's something so feminine and elegant about the cut that you've embodied perfectly in these shots. I absolutely love the first one- you look adorable :)

I also fell in love with the Pamela skirt the moment I saw it at the store. So soft and demure. But I still can't just justify the price tag *tears*. Hoping it'll go on sale sometime soon so I can snag it right away :D

You look AMAZING, Jen. ALWAYS :)

You always remind me that things that normally don't work on petites, really can, if done well.

I never thought Midi skirts could look complimentary on Petites, yet here you are, looking ravishing and polished as always.

I really like the Pamera skirt on you! Pleats are yes pleats. (See what I did there?) :)

  26. I am super in love with your shoes and bag. Ugggggh, gorgeous.
I am 5'1", and I feel like a midi skirt and I are NOT meant for each other. I have extremely short legs, so I try to go with short skirts. I don't even wear maxi skirts, despite how awesome I think they look.
    But you give me hope.
    So thanks. :)

Great photos and gorgeous outfits! I need to get this skirt asap. It's a great length on you! I have the same issue with you when it comes to longer skirts (harder for me because I'm only 5 ft). I've tried maxi skirts and even with 4 inch heels, it doesn't look the same. I'll definately give this a try! It's a great colour, too.

Jen dear, there's nothing you can't do. I mean that. Your fashion intuition is a genuine talent and you know just how to pair things to flatter your figure (which I don't think could ever be un-flattered anyway). And you bring it all together into the chicest ensembles. I love seeing you approach things that have "rules" attached and then break them with your fabulous aplomb. Keep it up, chica!

well i seriously missed the boat on your amazing giveaway Jen, big fail for sure. thanks for tipping me off, i came over but that darn blogger was down and then things sped so fast that i couldn't make it here till today. sure hope the conundrum didn't affect you too badly!

i've loved this CM skirt from afar for a while and your blush vs. is a beaut. i honestly can't believe you're 5'3, in these photos on your blog you seem so statuesque. i'm liking the balance of your longer length cardy and then the dark spots to ground the lighter shades. nicely done, as always!!! you inspire me to no end. the cherry blossoms are the perfect backdrop, exquisite photo composition. ♥
