Little Frenchie

by Jen on Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Lately, all I have wanted to wear are relaxed and comfortable ensembles. Of course, this shouldn't equate to looking sloppy. My solution? Very basic, neutral and easy-to-wear pieces peppered with standout accessories: a structured bag, leopard print shoes, and of course to epitomize French chic, a bright red beret.

Wearing: Unbranded cocoon coat, Zara sweater and kitten heels, 7 For All Mankind pants, Aldo beret, Michael Kors sunglasses, Coach bracelet, vintage Bally bag

Without a Care

by Jen on Monday, December 20, 2010

Showered and cozy, lying in my own bed at home and taking my sweet time reading my favourite blogs, life could not get much sweeter right now. On the docket for tomorrow? Letting myself sleep as long as I want, going for a good run, ransacking my closet for pieces to donate or consign, start reading Half Broke Horses (a new book by Jeannette Walls, the writer of one of my favourite books The Glass Castle) and continue returning all your wonderful blog comments (yes, I am that far behind...). Can't wait!

P.S. I'll also be announcing the winner of the Lanvin x H&M giveaway very soon!

Wearing: 3.1 Phillip Lim coat, Zara white shirt, leopard print skirt and shoes, vintage belt, Asos clutch, Amrita Singh necklace, Marni sunglasses

She's Got Flare

by Jen on Monday, December 13, 2010

Several months ago, Flare contacted me to ask if I would like to be featured in the "She's Got Flare" section of their magazine. Of course, I eagerly complied and was super excited and not to mention flattered! The whole experience was amazing and I was so shocked at how much work goes into the making of a magazine! An hour of make up and hair, an hour of shooting and two outfits complete with multiple bag/accessory changes later, one photo was finally ready to go to press. There was so much attention to detail and so much professionalism-- the people at Flare have my utmost respect. Thank you to Mosha and the team at Flare for this great opportunity!

A few photos from the day courtesy of my wonderful boyfriend who painstakingly waited and helped lug everything around!

{A photographer and a make up artist/stylist?! I felt like a rock star!}

A Day in Chinatown - The Sights

by Jen on Wednesday, December 8, 2010

{playing with random trinkets}

As a continuation of the last post, Mina and I thought it would be fun to share some more phoots from our day in Chinatown -- of the sights instead of our clothes this time. Enjoy!

{dried shrimp in the market}

{checking out traditional Chinese women's clothes / a Chinatown plaza's sign}

{straw hats hang on a store's display}

{a beautiful "ruby" lamp for sale}

{taking in the sights / a bust of Dr. Sun Yat Sen}

{can you believe the prices of these gorgeous blue and white ceramic pieces? think of all the decor possibilities!}

{a traditional umbrella's design is shown in store}

{shopping for umbrellas!}

{showing Mina various Chinese herbs -- she did not like the smell!}

{lanterns hang in Sun Yat Sen garden / discussing dried Chinese mushrooms}

{enjoying the sights and good company!}

Ebony and Ivory

by Jen on Monday, December 6, 2010

Her Waise Choice and Faboulista do Chinatown: On Saturday, the lovely Mina and I got together once again (see here for the first time). This time we walked the streets of Chinatown, where I was able to use my [pretty much non-existent] Chinese knowledge to [pretend to] share some of my heritage with her. In spite of my lack of awareness, it was a pleasant afternoon and we're definitely looking into meeting for photos as a once-per-season event at the very least! Mina is delightful and I definitely enjoy her company. Her eye for finding unique pieces at fast fashion chains is astonishing (can you believe her top and skirt are from H&M?!). She's also one of the classiest girls I've ever met and it's so refreshing to spend time with someone who has such good etiquette. We even talked about the possibility of having a third local blogger join us for next time, so please let us know if you're interested!

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Lanvin x H&M earring giveaway here... time is ticking away!
