I don't think I need to re-iterate how much fun instagram is (as I'm sure everyone who uses it agrees), so here are just a few of my favourite recent photos. Find me on instagram at herwaisechoice for more!

Before I began a style blog, I was a very safe dresser. Among my friends I was known as the one who only wore black and white the vast majority of the time, and maybe a pop of colour in a single element if I wanted to take a bit of a 'risk'. It's not that I think that blogging has led me to stray from my style, as the silhouettes I'm drawn to are still pretty much the same. However, is it crazy that I now consider these muted mustard pants and this navy blue lace blouse my 'safe' pieces in this look, ready to be accented with a punch of raspberry in the trench?!

It's been a while since my last Tuesday Treats feature. Since my days have been fast-paced and quite packed, I haven't been able to bring my camera out with me as much as I would have liked to. Excuses aside, though, here are several "happy" things since the last time I posted.

{discovering pretty new spots during a spontaneous nighttime walk on the beach}

{the most thoughtful bouquet of flowers I've ever received: I love calla lilies, so for my birthday David found all different varieties of the flower to give to me along with some lovely casablanca lilies. they smelled amazing!}

{meeting for a quick, but satisfying lunch date in the middle of a busy day}

{my first YSL arty oval ring (in pink here) in the most beautiful colour- another part of David's extremely sweet gift. am I a lucky girl or what?!}

Crisp white blouse, dark skirt, gold, red... feeling a little like Carolina Herrera in this very simple outfit.
p.s. After a couple of weeks of not feeling too enthused about blogging, I'm back and ready to roll. It's good to take a break sometimes. A full week of posts coming right up!

I didn't have cake for my birthday this year (I know, right?!), so when Cee organized a blogger clothing swap / birthday party for September babies, I knew I had to go. This time around, 8 girls chatted and swapped the afternoon away, along with several sweet and selfless husbands / boyfriends to help with photos.

I am officially bidding adieu to summer: these shots were taken right before the weather turned on us last week and since then, I've sadly already had to layer sweaters to stay warm! Luckily, this Coach bag does help in making the impending gloom a tiny bit easier: the smoky grey hue goes with just about all of the shades I'm excited to wear this fall and the crocodile embossed leather makes it a statement piece all on its own. What are you looking forward to wearing this fall?

{with my dashing, and way more stylish than I, date!}
Several weeks ago, a mysterious black box arrived at my house delivered by a man in a suit. Immaculately packaged, the invite was for an event called "The Global Party", named quite aptly for a collection of 80 parties around the world all within 24 hours. To be at the Vancouver party, which was held at Opus Lounge, was quite the experience: individuals like Roberto Luongo graced us with their presence, and we mingled while we sipped on Grey Goose cocktails and munched on canapés and desserts. All of the money raised for the event goes to the charity ARK (Absolute Return for Kids). Thanks to Heth PR for the invite!
I wore a newly acquired Topshop blouse from the new capsule collection at The Bay downtown, a Moon sequin skirt (also from the Bay!), Aldo pumps and my treasured vintage Bally bag.

As much as I don't like that the days are getting shorter and cooler, I think transitional dressing is so much fun. The fact that there are two seasons to draw inspiration has proven to result in a plethora of outfit possibilities. I like the idea of wearing brights into fall, while making the look more seasonally appropriate with a pair of forest green trousers. The result is a look that seems to admit to the nearing of fall while still being optimistic that sunny days won't leave us quite yet.

September thus far has been surprisingly hot, with temperatures that have exceeded what we experienced in the actual summer months. To make the most of it, I threw on a bright, cheerful ensemble this weekend and set out to explore less familiar areas of the city... complete with plenty of breaks for ice cream and coffee in between.

Whenever someone is helping me take photos, I always ask them to take a "detail" shot: I like the way they saturate the photo with the interesting parts in an outfit and show the mix of colours and textures. As summer draws to a close, here are some detail shots from some of my favourite looks this summer as well as a few that have never made it on to the blog.
