London Calling

by Jen on Tuesday, April 19, 2011

In exactly four weeks I will be jetting off to Northern Europe with my parents! We'll be spending a few days in London, acquainting ourselves with Copenhagen and finally boarding a ship for a cruise of the Baltic. In all honesty though, most of my excitement is reserved for London: hoping to find some gems at flea markets, shop the London high street, experience traditional afternoon tea at Fortnum & Mason, take in a show at West End, and of course keep my eyes peeled for fashion inspiration to bring home!

I would love recommendations of places to visit if you've been!

I went to London 2 years ago and loved it! It's so easy to get around there with the tube! Make sure to check out Piccadilly Circus :) They have a great night life.

Take lots of pictures! I've always wanted to go to England. And be sure to tell us what you loved/didn't love so much!

I'm going to London in July! For shopping, I'm most looking forward to Primark (super cheap!) and Top Shop, so I recommend you check those out. And of course, all the free museums like the V&A.

Sounds really exciting! My husband and I went to London (and Paris) for our honeymoon back in September and had a wonderful time. If you're into museums, be sure to check out the Victoria and Albert. When I was there, they had a Grace Kelly exhibit (but we were not able to get in - it was only there for a few months and they charged (the rest of the museum is FREE)). There'll be some cool ones while you're there, including one about Beatrix Potter as well as one called The Cult of Beauty (about the Aesthetic Movement in the late 19th century)

Hope you have a great time!

I am hoping to return in September :) I personally reccomand to visit the Kew Gardens (if yoiu are into nature and parks that is) and Greenwich, where you can have a beautiful vieuw, find a (flea)market and eat delicious pie ^^ and ofcourse you must visit Hamleys toy shop! x

it's been a pleasure getting caught up today, i've missed quite a bit since my last visit. boo me! i have to send along a huge congrats on completing the five years at school!!! what a blow out you'll have for grad, i'm sure it'll be EPIC. the dress you chose for the pre-grad event was stunning, it's color and fabric folds are incredible. you have wonderful taste.

i love how your boyf gets so involved with your blogs aesthetic and actually does research for photoshoot ideas. um, this needs to get implemented in our household asap. he captures your essence and clothing details with astounding results. happy week wishes. ♥

If you're into arts and culture, definitely check out the museums (bonus: they're free!). The British Museum is huge and great if you're interested in natural history, history in general, or Egyptology. The Victoria & Albert is focused on decorative arts and fashion; they have a huge Yohji Yamamoto retrospective exhibit on atm, I think. The National Gallery is good if you're into more traditional art, while Tate Modern has some very interesting contemporary stuff. If you're going to see a musical or show, go to Leicester Square the morning of the show you want to see and buy discount tickets!

For shopping, I really liked Oxford Street, Selfridges (that's where I bought my Chanel 2.55), Harrods, and Covent Garden.

Have an amazing time Jen! Can't wait to hear about your trip when you come back.

How fun, Jen! I've always wanted to visit London. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. My friend Kendra is currently studying abroad there and occasionally posts about some of her adventures. I'm sure she'd have a lot of recommendations on where to go. (:
