Here's a little secret: I've been four-eyed since the fourth grade. I still distinctly remember that moment in math class when my teacher was testing us on our Times Tables and I misread the flash card, leading her to report to my parents that I should get my eyes checked. My world was shattered! I recall crying after being told by my parents that it was my fault for reading all my books in the dark. Nowadays I'm still not comfortable with my specs, especially because I'm blind as a bat (we're talking close to legally blind here) and the thick lenses make my eyes appear miniscule. At the end of the day, though, I am thankful for glasses that allow me to see at all. I also know that this is the fate for many so I wanted to share this part of myself with you. Do you secretly need glasses too?

I also wear glasses but I hate them! So contacts has been the way to go for me ever since I needed glasses! lol You look great in them though so no shame in them :)

I wear my glasses 24/7 at home, but I have to admit I am too vain to wear them consistently out.
They don't always match every outfit, you know???

I'm the same, almost legally blind but I'm too lazy to put contacts on unless I go out. But I'm glad I finally found a pair of glasses I really like this year by Kate Spade :)

I used to be like you, almost never wore my glasses and only allowed myself to be seen out in contacts. Then I developed an allergic reaction to my contacts which means I'll never be able to wear them again. It's been horrible getting re-accustomed to glasses since my prescription is extremely high and I have always hated how I look in them. Unfortunately I'm not a candidate for LASIK either! Anyway, I think you look great in glasses, Jen :)

Yup, I've been "blind" since grade 5! I was seated at the back of the class and I couldn't really read the board but the two people with me couldn't either. There was a eye check being done for the whole school and that's when I found out that I needed glasses along with the other 2 people that sat with me LOL! We never knew we had an issue since we were all blind :P

I didn't need glasses until my 20s, when genetics finally caught up with me. Actually, I don't my glasses - the right pair can be quite flattering to a face.
However, you can have the satisfaction of telling your parents it wasn't all that late night reading that gave you bad eyesight - that's a very common, but ultimately false, myth.

I wear glasses, but it's no secret. I always interchange between contact lenses and glasses and most people are used to me either way. I have no idea why some people are so ashamed of glasses or even braces! I have both and love it :D I got glasses in grade 8 and before that, I always always wished for glasses 'cause they looked cool. :P (obviously regretting that now because of the hassle) LOL

I'm literally close to blind too but I HATE how I look with glasses on, so I never wear them! You look amazing with them though, and your eyes don't look miniscule! Haha silly girl. You should definitely go up Grouse, Matt and I did end up going and we had the time of our lives. If you need proof check out my fbook album under my personal profile haha. Such dorks.

Oh Jen, I sympathise completely. I remember the day in grade five when I suddenly couldn't see the chalkboard... And I've been close to legally blind ever since! Until recently, I was really uncomfortable in my glasses and wore contacts constantly. But an allergy has forced me to get used to them one way or the other, since I can't wear contacts anymore. If it helps, I can say to you what everyone always said to me, knowing it's true- you look much, much cuter and more sophisticated in glasses than you think :)

I've been wearing some form of corrective lenses since then too. I was a contact lens wearer for most of my life but recently had to switch to glasses again. My contact prescription is like -5.5 so I also feel like the glasses make my eyes look small. ::SIGH:: It's true though, we should just be grateful for even being able to see!

I have had glasses since grade 3, and I am pretty blind without them. I definitely prefer contacts though (although I am searching for the perfect cat-eye frames)
