Bright Royal

As a girl with a small waist & substantially larger hips, it had always been hard for me to find a good pair of jeans. What's worse is that this body type seems to be most susceptible to the ever-embarrassing undie peek when sitting down (anyone else victim of this?!). J Brand 811's have proven to be a lifesaver for this: the brand has always made great jeans and I've been wearing their low rise cuts since my 1st year of university, but the mid rise on these makes them worry free and much more flattering. They also come in a rainbow of gorgeous colours in addition to the classics: this cobalt blue pair is so perfectly vibrant and it's been difficult to not reach for them every morning. I'm definitely eyeing this white pair for spring!
disclosure: I'm not affiliated with or sponsored by J Brand in any way... although I'd very much like to be ;)
Wearing: gifted YesStyle blouse, J Brand pants, Halston Heritage sweater, Zara heels, Tom Ford sunglasses (similar), bag from Asia

  2. Girl I can TOTALLY relate, I'm so happy someone else gets my annoying denim issue! I'm constantly trying to hike up my low-rises because they don't feel right. I absolutely love these on you, the colour is amazing and still so wearable. And LOVE the layered necklaces! Beautiful!

  4. Ohh I'm totally familiar with this issue... It's always hard to find good fitting jeans. Seems like J Brand has found a solution - I'll be definitely checking out their denim.

As for your outfit: I think you really do a great job at keeping the look elegant and feminine when wearing jeans. That top is gorgeous with those lace details.

  5. Cute cobalt jeans - I have a similar pair from TopShop! That Halston sweater though just steals the show for me; I'm a sucker for a cozy looking sweater coat.

  7. I'm so into the variation of colours in jeans/pants that are available; this royal blue is sublime! The colour truly is regal looking, especially paired with the touches of lace and the mix of silver, gold, and pearls. Splendid!

I've been seeing the bright blue skinnies all over the place and I'm craving. Esp after I saw them on Wendy's Look Book with a blazer I've been eyeing for a month!

    You look lovely as always.

The shirt is gorgeous. I love the lace detailing!

It took me years to find good jeans - the GAP eventually became my one and only. Finding good jeans is tough for anyone, but finding them if you're a woman whose build isn't slim up and down can be absolute pain.

  29. These pants are absolutely perfection! I have the exxxact same body type, and I too get the "enormous at the back of the waist, you can see all the way down my jeans, undie peek" all the time. It's so frustrating. I HAVE to try out these jeans. Thank you for the recommendation! You look gorg in them.

awe Jen, the undie peek is definitely something that's happened to me before and blush meter skyrocketed outta control too ; ) love how you always interject some humor and commonality into your words. i always feel like i can relate to your writing so much!

one thing i'd also like to relate to more is your inspiring dressing powers, awesome outfit lades. the cobalt blue is a great color, i'm on the search for red and pink at the moment so thanks for the brand tip off. i'll check out what they've got going on asap. i really dig the cut b/c it's skinny but not uber sucked in, know what i mean? lovely with your beautiful blouse and accessories too. hope you're enjoying a decent weekend keeping cozy!! xo ♥

  39. Cobalt blue jeans have been on my "want" list for a while now, ever since I saw Wendy from Wendy's Lookbook wear them many moons ago. I love such big splashes of color, always a day brightener.
I'd agree that the mid-rise is very flattering on you, plus it subtly helps make your legs look just a bit longer. =)
I'm petite as well, but don't have your particular issue. The waist is my main issue, so I either have to get them altered or grit my teeth and wear a belt.
