As much as I now love colour and bright patterns, there will always be a special place in my closet for black and white (after all, just four years ago that's basically all that was in my wardrobe). Nowadays, I like to challenge myself to try making colourless ensembles more visually interesting; I find it to be especially fun to do, since staying in the same neutral palette really allows for more risks and experimental layering.

You will never, ever go wrong with black and white - but you're right, the key is to make it visually interesting. I love all of the layers of texture in this outfit. And those clear-heeled shoes get me every time :)
